This delicious and spacious triple room, old-rose and white coloured, takes its name from a beautiful Acireale city district, named Gazzena.
‘Gazzena’ derives from Arabic Gaium or Gazum, which means ‘woods’, and refers to a precious and uncontaminated area located along the ‘Timpa’ itinerary. Following the earthquake of 1169, some of the inhabitants of the old city, named Aci, moved to this area, which was named Aquilia and, later on in the XVI century, was called ‘Vetere’, in order to distinguish it from the new Aquilia, which later became the city of Acireale.
The Gazzena district represents today an extremely rich area from a natural and environmental point of view. A pleasant and relaxing two hours walk takes you along this special itinerary, where you can admire the majestic patrician Villa Calanna and proceed down towards the sea, passing by beautiful ancient buildings as ‘Il Casolare’ and ‘la Casazza’.
